Princess Cruises is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc. Carrying the Bermuda flag, and headquartered in Santa Clarita, California. It was previously a subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises, and is currently under Holland America Group within Carnival Corporation & plc, which holds executive control over the Princess Cruises brand. Princess has a fleet of more than a dozen ships cruising global itineraries that are marketed to both American and international passengers.
Princess Cruises was made famous by the American television series The Love Boat, which ran from 1977-1987, in which its ship Pacific Princess was featured. The Love Boat was, arguably, the main catalyst that launched the phenomenal growth of the modern vacation cruise industry. In May 2013, Royal Princess, the first Royal-class ship and the largest ship constructed for Princess at the time, became the flagship of Princess Cruises. Its newest ships, the LNG-powered Sun Princess (2024) and Star Princess (2025), are the largest Princess has ever built.
